This is a library for people of all ages. You can have free Internet access and use the computers for up to 2 hours a day. You can also make photocopies and send faxes here.

You can borrow books, CDs and CD ROMs, videos, DVDs and talking books.
It has all sorts of adult education classes and language courses through the year. There are also story-times and activities for children.

Other things the library has to offer are: a Reference Library, a study area, exhibition and display space, and meeting rooms. You can hire a meeting room for your group if you want.

You could visit Redbridge Museum on floor 2 - this is free too.

If you want to join you need to bring your ID and fill in a form. The staff can support you if you want.

 Cost or concessions
It is free to borrow books, but you have to pay to borrow DVDs. You don't have to pay to borrow talking books or CDs if you are registered as disabled in Redbridge.

Adults can borrow as many as 8 books, 4 videos, 4 DVDs, 8 CDs, 8 cassettes and 2 CD ROMs from Ilford's Central Library at any one time.

All the adult education classes run by Learn Direct are free (once you have paid a one-off £15.00 membership fee).

There is a drop-off bay outside the library front door. There are not any reserved accessible parking spaces outside.

(District Line) Barking underground station is the nearest station, from there you need to catch a bus towards Ilford central.

Ilford mainline station is about 650 metres from Ilford Central Library.

There are automatic doors from pavement level.
The entrance doorway is 940mm wide.
Internal access logo  Getting around inside
It is very roomy inside and there are accessible service counters.
There is a Ground Floor, Floor 1 and Floor 2. There are 2 lifts to reach all the floors.

On the Ground floor:
You will find the reception, main library and a lift to Floor 1 and 2.
Chairs and tables are not fixed to the floor.

The top shelves in the main library are about 1210 mm high.
There is tactile flooring in some areas.

On the First floor:
Here you will find the meeting rooms, Learn Direct and the Redbridge Museum.
The only accessible toilet is on this floor.

On the Second floor:
Here you are able to use the computers or check out what's on the Internet. This is also where the Reference Library is.

The fully accessible toilet is on the first floor.
It is in a unisex area.
It is kept locked - the radar key is in the caretaker's room (opposite the toilet room).
The doorways are about 800 mm wide.
