The London Eye is very accessible. A trip on the London Eye is called a flight!
It takes about 30 minutes to get on board the London Eye.
If you are concerned about queuing ask a member of staff - they will help you to get on faster.
It's a good idea to book this service on the disabled booking line 0870 990 8885.
To cut out queues altogether it's a good idea to visit at a quiet time - like weekdays in school term time, early in the morning or after 4.00pm.
If you have difficulty walking or use a wheelchair please let the staff know - they will stop the London Eye going round to help you get on board.
For safety reasons only 2 wheelchairs can go inside a capsule at one time,
...and only 8 wheelchairs are able to go the London Eye at the same time.
The London Eye advise all wheelchair users to book a place before going - so you don't miss out or have to wait a long time. You can do this by phoning 0870 990 8885.

You can buy photos of your flight on the London Eye at the end. (1 photo costs £7.50, 2 photos cost £10.00).
The reception sells disposable cameras and the gift shop sells things like T-shirts and postcards.

Opening
hours
In February, March and April,
It opens at 9.30 am and closes at 8.00 pm every day.
In May, June and September,
It opens at 9.30 am and closes at 9.00 pm every day.
In July and August,
It opens at 9.30 am and closes at 10.00 pm every day.
In October, November and December,
It opens at 9.30 am and closes at 8.00 pm every day.
BUT on bank holidays,
It opens at 9.30 am and closes at 9.00 pm.
AND every Tuesday the first flight will be at 10.30 am,
Except in June, July and August and any school holiday times.
It is closed on Christmas Day.

Booking
tickets
If you have a disability and want to book tickets you should phone 0870 990 8885.
If you book before you go you don't have to queue for so long to buy tickets on the day.
The booking line is open from 8.30 am and closes at 6.30 pm every day.

Cost or concessions

Getting on the London Eye:
If you are an adult it costs £12.50 to ride on the London Eye.
If you are over 60 years old,
- OR you have a disability,
- it costs £10.00 to ride on the London Eye.
BUT, if you are over 60 years old,
- AND you go at the weekend or any day between July and August, you have to pay the full price.
All customers with disabilities can bring a carer for free.

If you are a junior (a person aged between 5 years and 15 years old),
- with or without a disability,
- and an adult is with you,
- it costs £6.50 to ride on the London Eye.
Children under 5 years old can ride the London Eye FREE.
Groups:
15 people (or more) can have a 10 percent discount on the ticket price.
Food:
There are drink vending machines in the reception building. A bottle of coke will cost about £1.25.
There are 2 Costa cafés, one inside and one outside.
The outside cafe is open from 8.00 am - 8.00 pm.
A latte coffee will cost about £2.30, a tea costs about £1.40.

Parking
There are 3 car parks on the South Bank about 5 minutes away from the London Eye.
They all have accessible parking spaces.
Car park 1: Hungerford Bridge.
Car park 2: under the Hayward Gallery.

If you are coming by coach and want to be dropped off at the London Eye it is best to ring up and book a coach-parking bay before you go. Click for photo-map.
The coach can park in the bay for 20 minutes - after that it has to park somewhere else while you visit the London Eye.

77 and RV1 are the nearest fully accessible buses.
N76, 341 are the nearest fully accessible night buses.
The N381 is not fully accessible.

Tube
You can get to the London Eye from Waterloo and Westminster underground stations. Click for photo-map.
(Jubilee, Northern and Bakerloo line) - Waterloo underground station is about 490 metres from the London Eye.
Waterloo underground station is accessible for wheelchair users.
From Waterloo mainline station, wheelchair users should go to the Waterloo International terminal, using the lifts to get to the ground floor.
At Waterloo International follow the signs for the London Eye.
(Jubilee, Circle and District line) - Westminster underground station is about 610 metres from the London Eye.
Westminster underground station is accessible for wheelchair users.
Leave Westminster station using the exit for Westminster pier.
Follow the signs to Westminster Bridge.
There are signs for disabled access to Westminster Bridge also.
Cross over Westminster Bridge and go straight past County Hall.
River Taxi
Waterloo Millennium pier is in front of the London Eye.
There is a River taxi trip which travels between Westminster Millennium Pier and Greenwich Pier. It stops at Waterloo Millennium Pier.

British Rail
Waterloo mainline station is about 480 metres from the London Eye.
The mainline station is accessible for wheelchair users.

Access from outside
The ticket office has a ramp.
You enter the ticket office through double automatic doors.
There is a La Manga café outside, the tables and chairs not fixed to the floor.

There are 2 accessible toilets in the ticket office.
They do have hand rails and good colour contrast. They both have a baby-change.
They are not locked.

Support
The London Eye has some wheelchairs for people to use at the Left Luggage desk (this is at the ticket office in County Hall).
It is not possible to book one of the wheelchairs before you go.
If you want to use one you need to pay a deposit of £150.00 with a credit card - you get this money back when you take the wheelchair back.
There are guidebooks in Braille, which have information about how the London Eye was built and the buildings around it. The guidebook costs £5.00.
The staff were really friendly and helpful on our visit.
